Our culture seems to hold home ownership as the highest standard of achievement, let me tell you how much this upsets me and why. How many times I've heard "Why pay someone else's mortgage when you can pay your own?". People caught making these statements have either long settled into their home, or are clueless to current market conditions.This statement is no longer valid in today's housing market, particularly if you live anywhere near the GTA. I watched a presentation by Lynne Twist the other day and boy did she hit the nail on the head, she said that we live in a deficit culture. What this means is that we live in a culture of 'not enough', for example how often have you either told yourself or overheard; I don't get enough sleep, I don't have enough money, I don't have enough time, I need more space, more clothes, the list is endless.
