Buying in Bulk
Do you need 50 Easter baskets because they're on sale for 10 cents a piece? Unless you're hosting one huge Easter Extravaganza, I highly doubt it.
I want to talk about buying in bulk, it is a huge pet peeve of mine the belief that because it's on sale, you should stock up until the end of time. Now, don't get me wrong, if you are living within your means and have no debts, then go ahead and buy Costco clubpacks! However, if you have rising credit card balances, then it is worth considering buying what you need and no more.
Here's what I'm getting at: if you have $150 to stock up your fridge and cupboards for the week, but you go ahead and spend $180 because toilet paper was such a great price, where does that extra $30 come from? It usually lands on the credit card, week over week, and those credit card balances grow over time from over spending and interest due.
Bottom line, is the toilet paper until next winter worth paying the banks high interest tab?
Sticking to your budget is far more valuable then taking advantage of a sale, there will always be a sale! Practice budgeting discipline, I dare you!
