My house is a mess, and that's OK

March 17, 2020

My house is a mess, and that's just going to have to be OK for the next few weeks. I have little activity stations set up throughout the house and my son burned through all of them in an hour and a half. This is a lesson for me in patience and accepting the situation.

I don't know about you, but the urge to stock up is real, particularly as everyday unlocks more scary numbers and government intervention initiatives. Admittedly I haven't stocked up, there's about 6 rolls of toilet paper left in my house and I'm hoping the shelves get restocked soon! I have chosen to take the risk of waiting it out, others have chosen the risk to prepare for the worst. We are all different and we all have different ways of coping, and that's OK too!

If you have chosen to load up your pantry, you've perhaps blown through your regular  budget. These are the times when that emergency savings is going to come in handy, be it to cover bulk buying or lost income. Time's like these highlight how exposed we potentially are to emergency situations. Try not to worry too much about your finances as there is really nothing any of us can do right now. Once this is all over, we can look back and learn from this experience.

The best we can all do right now is take it one day at a time and focus on keeping our families healthy.

Stay healthy everyone!
