2023 In Review

Can you believe that we're already sailing into 2024? Wishing you all success in this coming year!

I personally find the holidays to be a busy time of year in our home, it feels like a lot to juggle with the preparations that go into creating the wonders of the season. So, it wasn't until the morning of the last day of 2023 that I took the time to ponder any potential 2024 goals.

As most of you know, this year I took on one of the largest challenges of my life, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. This challenge brought out so many fears that I hadn't ever faced. Fear of leaving my family for longer than I ever have before, fear of being not fit enough, fear of failing, fear of managing my diabetes, fear of heights, and oh boy the list goes on! This challenge ended up creating crippling anxiety that I carried with me every day, I mean it was all encompassing. I was so surprised by this involuntary reaction, that is so not me!

What I noticed happen was that the underlying anxiety carried into my work and business, there were many long conversations with my husband trying to sort out where this was all coming from.

Here's what happened, not only did I summit, but I didn't do it alone. It took me a while after the trip to piece together that my 'travel wife', Lisa, was by my side the whole time. I was 100% there to support her and she supported me in ways that I had no idea I needed. There was no way I was climbing that mountain on my own, we were a team from the minute we stepped into Pearson airport.

This ended up being a huge "Ah-Ha!" moment for me, I'm a team player and I love working as part of a team! But being an entrepeneur can be incredibly isolating and lonely, queue self-doubt and imposter syndrome. So, my goal for 2024 is to push through fear and build my team. And by team, I mean surrounding myself more with people who can help me build and grow my business. I will reach out to people in my network more, there will be so many coffee dates! 2024 will bring less fear, more confidence and building relationships.

I stole this quote from Boss Babes Brunch and am going to use it as my 2024 inspiration:

"Push through fear by trusting your passion for your work and the higher purpose you're pursuing will always lead you in the right direction."
